Share a Random Moment

Last night Sally and I were at TJMaxx/ Home Goods. At one point we were looking through all of the framed art and wall hangings and one large picture caught my eye. I didn't especially care for the artwork, rather it was the print that drew me in and got me thinking. "Share a Random Moment" was scrawled across the canvas above and below a coffee cup omitting what I like to call aromatic steam. Ha! Whatever- I liked the quote. So tonight- as I sat on the couch in a daze due to my head cold I thought I'd run with my creative juices and ended up with this poem. I secretly want to be an author- a published author- so you can be my guinea pigs. Read on and hopefully you will enjoy!

Share a Random Moment

No time to chat, I have to go,
From the alarm clock ring I’m on a roll,
I’m working hard, I’m moving fast,
But when will I stop to see what’s passed?

Life’s whizzing by, in spite of me,
So many missed opportunities,
To share a random moment with the people in my day,
To give them my attention, not plug along my way,
To delight in others’ presence, it truly is a gift,
For people are most valuable, whose spirits might I lift?

To share a random moment, in spontaneity,
With joy I’ll take an interest in someone besides me!
When we reach out to the ones so near, who seem so far away,
We show God’s love inside our hearts and shine for Him today.
The time we take to spend with others will never be a waste,
A focus on the earthly things is simply in bad taste.

For when the clock stops ticking and our time has passed away,
Our creator God will inquire, “How did you spend your days?”
May you focus on what matters and confidently plea,
“Lord, I shared the random moments that YOU laid before me.”
