Flower Girl Dress Update

So those other flower girl dresses were either A) A little too gaudy (the first one) or B) TOO DARN EXPENSIVE!!! (the last two...) Even though the last dress I linked (Dress #2) was my absolute favorite, there is no way I can make Sally dish out almost 200 dollars for a 2 year old's attire for one day... and I was thinking in the back of my mind, "Well I'll just buy the dress for them," but I know that would not be responsible with all of the many wedding expenses I have that will be crashing down upon my bank account come July.

Last night (after I looked online for dresses for probably 3 hours in the previous few weeks) and Sally scoured the Internet thoroughly for the right flower girl dress at the right price... Sally was offering to make a dress, so my mom hops on her computer does ONE google search and BAM! She finds this: The Right Flower Girl Dress at the Right Price!

When you look at it online, it is hard to see the ruffles on the white dress, but if you click on the blue dress or even look on the homepage: The model on the Homepage is wearing the dress in Yellow you can see the ruffles better.

So I think this is the dress we like! And at a reasonable price. Thanks to mom for spending 1 nano second looking online and finding it! :) This dress is a close second, if we changed the pink sash to teal, but I think I like the first one I just showed you better. Now that I'm looking at this one, it's really cute too! Well at least we made progress and have it narrowed down to two cute ones that aren't TOO expensive.

Allison is going to be soooo cute! She's the sweetest little thing. She's talking all the time in her cute little sweet high voice, calling me "Hoddy" and even saying "Thanks Hoddy" when I gave her an apple slice last night. CUTIE! :) Love her. Her hair has little curls in the back.. she is just going to be ADORABLE on my wedding day! :)

Over the Top?

Is this too over the top for a flower girl dress?

A-line Square Floor-length Taffeta Flower Girl Dress

And if it isn't... is it cute or gaudy??? I have looked at a million dresses online and may be losing my mind!!! Keep in mind Allison will only be 2 and it will be in the hot summer. I actually think I like it... although I don't want a 2 year old upstaging me on my wedding day! LOL!

The only thing I'm set on regarding Allison's flower girl dress is that I don't want it to have pick-ups. I want it to have some sort of layered ruffling going on to mimic you know what. Any thoughts?

Update: Sally already talked me out of that dress. That weird swooping overlay is well.. weird.

What about these?

Losing Steam

I'm already losing the blogging momentum. I don't feel like I have patience to sit and write a well thought out post, something witty, or anything really. Hmmm... maybe this is why I stopped blogging in the first place?

Anyhow, I just watched a sad story on 20/20 about a family that got stranded in their car in a blizzard. They didn't get rescued for 8 days or so and at that point the husband had left the wife and two daughters to go for help and he ended up dying in the wilderness. SO SAD! The daughters were 4 and 1 or so and it was so sad I cried. I always always feel that I will grow into old age, but life is fragile and there are no guarantees as to how long we will have on this Earth.

Before that I was watching a story (I think on Dateline) about a married couple that was doing invetro that had an embryo implanted and it turned out the clinic made a mistake and put someone else's embryo in by error. WHAT?!?!? So she carried the baby as a surrogate and then had to give it up to the real mother and father and by the time this was over she was too old to have her own baby because she was 40 or 42 or something so then they tried to have a baby with their real embryos using a surrogate mother of their own but she miscarried and then the other embryos never took. If you ask me, that couple was not meant to have another child. They had 3 of their own already, but just always wanted four.

So this is how I spent my evening. Watching way too much TV. I should be doing Chris's tax paperwork/receipts and my save the dates, but I was tired.

On Monday Chris and I are going to see a house we really really like that is pretty close to my parents' house. I'm very excited about it!!!

Rainbow Sunset

Today's Sunset... a rainbow! There was red, but by the time I took the picture it had faded below the horizon line. Pretty! But not as pretty as blue skies, green grass, and hot summer days.

Bullet Points: Because I like them and it's easy :)

  • I really like the song "Manifesto" by The City Harmonic. Check it out on iTunes. I tried to add it to my blog playlist, but it is not available on playlist.com.
  • I saw this idea on a wedding blog: I want to copy it, but vamp it up so it looks even cooler (better fabric). The frame would have fabric in the middle. It would lay flat on the table and on top would be a white milk glass vase (or other white vase) with fresh flowers and then around the frame would be three small pedestal plates with candles on top (probably votives in glass cups, but that is still TBD) Might not make these frames, right now it's just an idea. I might prefer to just use the banquet hall's mirrors to place under the white vase w/ flowers.... we'll see. The links of what I'm talking about are below:
  • Framed Centerpieces
  • Click on this one too: It is an ugly style, but will give you an idea of what I'm talking about/how the frames would be used... remember... this is ugly, I would try to make it much cuter!
  • I had two days off due to the blizzard and I got less done in those two days than I would have if I had gone to work! I watched way too much TV, clicked around way too many websites (mostly wedding websites, facebook, email checking, and looking at houses online... if I look at another house online my head will explode! LOL!!! At least I did about a million loads of laundry!!!)
Topics to discuss next time: Preliminary House Hunting & Wedding Hair & Makeup. Stay tuned! :)

Random Links

I want to make this (just for fun):

I will need a sewing machine and someone to teach me how to use it. Any takers? ;)

I want to make these for my wedding instead of using bubbles or rice:

This is a cute print:

And finally, I am in love with the cake toppers this lady makes. They are custom made to match your dress and to look just like you(the bride) and your groom. LOVE! But they are too expensive and normally I would splurge and just buy it, but I am not because I want to save more money for a house. Click around her shop! They're adorable!!!

Happy Snow Day!

Only God

You will never disappoint me,
You will never let me down.
You are always capable to bring a smile from my frown.

When I put my hope in others,
to meet my every need,
You calmly sit and wait,
For me to take the lead.

To put my hope in You alone,
To place You at the top.
To honor You above all else,
In the end You're all I've got.

And You sit and wait for me to see,
You're all I'll ever need.
Please forgive me for neglecting You,
For selfish pride and greed.
I often try to fill my time with what I think is right,
While all the while I'm missing out on walking in the light.

My Maker wants my heart and soul to long for Him alone,
And all the while I'm hoping for a ring from my cell phone.
These earthly bonds are such a gift, but never should they grow,
To consume our heart and overwhelm, for in the end I know,
That people always let us down,
There's truly only One,
Who can fill our hearts so full,
Father God, Spirit, and Son.

You will never disappoint me,
You will never let me down.
When I'm empty, lost, or lonely through Your Grace I'm always found!
