Losing Steam

I'm already losing the blogging momentum. I don't feel like I have patience to sit and write a well thought out post, something witty, or anything really. Hmmm... maybe this is why I stopped blogging in the first place?

Anyhow, I just watched a sad story on 20/20 about a family that got stranded in their car in a blizzard. They didn't get rescued for 8 days or so and at that point the husband had left the wife and two daughters to go for help and he ended up dying in the wilderness. SO SAD! The daughters were 4 and 1 or so and it was so sad I cried. I always always feel that I will grow into old age, but life is fragile and there are no guarantees as to how long we will have on this Earth.

Before that I was watching a story (I think on Dateline) about a married couple that was doing invetro that had an embryo implanted and it turned out the clinic made a mistake and put someone else's embryo in by error. WHAT?!?!? So she carried the baby as a surrogate and then had to give it up to the real mother and father and by the time this was over she was too old to have her own baby because she was 40 or 42 or something so then they tried to have a baby with their real embryos using a surrogate mother of their own but she miscarried and then the other embryos never took. If you ask me, that couple was not meant to have another child. They had 3 of their own already, but just always wanted four.

So this is how I spent my evening. Watching way too much TV. I should be doing Chris's tax paperwork/receipts and my save the dates, but I was tired.

On Monday Chris and I are going to see a house we really really like that is pretty close to my parents' house. I'm very excited about it!!!

Rainbow Sunset

Today's Sunset... a rainbow! There was red, but by the time I took the picture it had faded below the horizon line. Pretty! But not as pretty as blue skies, green grass, and hot summer days.

Bullet Points: Because I like them and it's easy :)

  • I really like the song "Manifesto" by The City Harmonic. Check it out on iTunes. I tried to add it to my blog playlist, but it is not available on playlist.com.
  • I saw this idea on a wedding blog: I want to copy it, but vamp it up so it looks even cooler (better fabric). The frame would have fabric in the middle. It would lay flat on the table and on top would be a white milk glass vase (or other white vase) with fresh flowers and then around the frame would be three small pedestal plates with candles on top (probably votives in glass cups, but that is still TBD) Might not make these frames, right now it's just an idea. I might prefer to just use the banquet hall's mirrors to place under the white vase w/ flowers.... we'll see. The links of what I'm talking about are below:
  • Framed Centerpieces
  • Click on this one too: It is an ugly style, but will give you an idea of what I'm talking about/how the frames would be used... remember... this is ugly, I would try to make it much cuter!
  • I had two days off due to the blizzard and I got less done in those two days than I would have if I had gone to work! I watched way too much TV, clicked around way too many websites (mostly wedding websites, facebook, email checking, and looking at houses online... if I look at another house online my head will explode! LOL!!! At least I did about a million loads of laundry!!!)
Topics to discuss next time: Preliminary House Hunting & Wedding Hair & Makeup. Stay tuned! :)

Random Links

I want to make this (just for fun):

I will need a sewing machine and someone to teach me how to use it. Any takers? ;)

I want to make these for my wedding instead of using bubbles or rice:

This is a cute print:

And finally, I am in love with the cake toppers this lady makes. They are custom made to match your dress and to look just like you(the bride) and your groom. LOVE! But they are too expensive and normally I would splurge and just buy it, but I am not because I want to save more money for a house. Click around her shop! They're adorable!!!

Happy Snow Day!

Only God

You will never disappoint me,
You will never let me down.
You are always capable to bring a smile from my frown.

When I put my hope in others,
to meet my every need,
You calmly sit and wait,
For me to take the lead.

To put my hope in You alone,
To place You at the top.
To honor You above all else,
In the end You're all I've got.

And You sit and wait for me to see,
You're all I'll ever need.
Please forgive me for neglecting You,
For selfish pride and greed.
I often try to fill my time with what I think is right,
While all the while I'm missing out on walking in the light.

My Maker wants my heart and soul to long for Him alone,
And all the while I'm hoping for a ring from my cell phone.
These earthly bonds are such a gift, but never should they grow,
To consume our heart and overwhelm, for in the end I know,
That people always let us down,
There's truly only One,
Who can fill our hearts so full,
Father God, Spirit, and Son.

You will never disappoint me,
You will never let me down.
When I'm empty, lost, or lonely through Your Grace I'm always found!

Share a Random Moment

Last night Sally and I were at TJMaxx/ Home Goods. At one point we were looking through all of the framed art and wall hangings and one large picture caught my eye. I didn't especially care for the artwork, rather it was the print that drew me in and got me thinking. "Share a Random Moment" was scrawled across the canvas above and below a coffee cup omitting what I like to call aromatic steam. Ha! Whatever- I liked the quote. So tonight- as I sat on the couch in a daze due to my head cold I thought I'd run with my creative juices and ended up with this poem. I secretly want to be an author- a published author- so you can be my guinea pigs. Read on and hopefully you will enjoy!

Share a Random Moment

No time to chat, I have to go,
From the alarm clock ring I’m on a roll,
I’m working hard, I’m moving fast,
But when will I stop to see what’s passed?

Life’s whizzing by, in spite of me,
So many missed opportunities,
To share a random moment with the people in my day,
To give them my attention, not plug along my way,
To delight in others’ presence, it truly is a gift,
For people are most valuable, whose spirits might I lift?

To share a random moment, in spontaneity,
With joy I’ll take an interest in someone besides me!
When we reach out to the ones so near, who seem so far away,
We show God’s love inside our hearts and shine for Him today.
The time we take to spend with others will never be a waste,
A focus on the earthly things is simply in bad taste.

For when the clock stops ticking and our time has passed away,
Our creator God will inquire, “How did you spend your days?”
May you focus on what matters and confidently plea,
“Lord, I shared the random moments that YOU laid before me.”

I Believe

I wrote this poem back in January. I hope you might draw some form of inspiration and hope from it. Enjoy! :)
<3 Holly

I BELIEVE

Blessings wait to be bestowed
Based on our belief

Prayers are whispered yearningly
Yet with a doubting heart
And so we wait
While He waits for us to show we truly BELIEVE

We think God might be able,
Yet still, we’re unstable
Waiting for changes we fear are impossible

All the while God can do
Even more than we may ask him to
He waits for us to show we’re ready
To know He will show us the way

Get grounded in His truth and love
Know his power and mercy above
God is waiting for our praise
Let go, trust him and BELIEVE

For once we believe
He surely can achieve
What was once deemed impossible
He waited to bless upon you
Only once you showed your heart was ready
And you truly
Wholeheartedly
Undoubtedly and
Genuinely
BELIEVED
